MacKay Hannah helps businesses to Influence policy making, Inform policy development and Connect with decision makers.

MacKay Hannah was founded in 2003 by Angus MacKay and Gail Hannah. Angus MacKay is a former Member of the Scottish Parliament where he served as Minister for Finance in the Scottish Cabinet and as Deputy Justice Minister. Gail Hannah has an extensive background in Scottish local government and in the Scottish Parliament.

MacKay Hannah focuses on current public policy issues of interest to the public, private and third sectors. Working mainly through conferences and seminars, we provide a platform for informed discussion and debate with senior contributing figures in each policy field.

We work in partnership with leading public, private and third sector partners and academic institutions to deliver conferences and other events led by the most senior policy makers in government, the public and private sectors.

Our conference themes explore current legislative, policy and spending proposals. We cover diverse themes ranging from public sector reform and renewable energy through to social policy issues such as care of the elderly and child protection.

Our events provide opportunities to engage with policy development, influence the decision makers and ensure that policy and expenditure translates into effective practice.

We have a range of partnership opportunities for each of our events. If you would like to discuss these or would like us to help organise your own conference or event, please contact us at mail@mackayhannah.com

MacKay Hannah produces Scottish Policy Now - an online magazine that provides regular news and analysis of changing government policies, regulation, initiatives and legislation and the impact of all of these on Scotland and people living in Scotland.

Scottish Policy Now uses a variety of means to explore, explain and debate the possible impact of planned change, whether initiated by the Scottish Government, the Westminster Government, local government, by government agencies and other public bodies or by Scottish civic society.

SPN's aim is to provide a platform for policy discussion which illuminates the choices made by decision makers and brings together leading thinkers and practitioners to help inform that decision making.

As part of this dialogue SPN encourages and supports informed and critical discussion of initiatives and proposals put forward by governing majorities at Holyrood, Westminster and in council chambers. We will apply the same standards of critical analysis to the views and counter proposals of governing and opposition parties in all those settings.

Regular editions will contain interviews, opinion pieces, debates, legal analysis and other expert review and ‘virtual round tables’. We welcome contributions in various forms from readers which will be moderated by the Editor.
